Growing societal pressure
Dutch society increasingly sees a role for the business sector in realizing societal transitions. According to CBS research, 73.1% of respondents believe that companies and industries are not doing enough to address the challenge of climate change (source). There is growing societal pressure on companies to contribute to solving the climate crisis and achieving the energy transition.
An important choice
Organizations are continually challenged to revise their methods and policies. ABP Pension Fund is one such organization. They have undergone a significant change in direction, with a central mission: to provide a good pension in a livable world for current and future generations. To achieve this, ABP has made the courageous choice to change. For 100 years, ABP has been the pension fund for people working in government and education. 1 in 6 people in the Netherlands currently receive or will receive a pension from ABP in the future. With a total investment capital of €474 billion, ABP is not only the largest pension fund in the Netherlands but also a crucial player in the pension world (source).

Noordzeker focuses on the large-scale generation of wind energy in the North Sea. By investing in offshore wind now, we ensure more sustainable energy for the Netherlands of tomorrow. This accelerates the necessary transition to sustainable energy, making us less dependent on fossil fuels that are harmful to the environment, and on countries and companies that produce oil and gas. That means sustainable energy from, for, and by the Netherlands.
