Three journalists (Teun van de Keuken, Maurice Dekkers, and Roland Duong) from the Dutch consumer television program ‘Keuringsdienst van Waarde’ discovered that West African cacao farms lean heavily on illegal child labor and modern slavery for the production of chocolate. Together, they decided to - besides raising awareness - found Tony’s Chocolonely to change the market from within.
At present, Tony's Chocolonely has partnered with 8 million farmers in West Africa, offering them fair terms. On their own, the company won’t eradicate slavery. But they certainly have a serious impact. We see them as true heroes.
Futureproof was founded in 2018 with a single objective: to make an impact. We help organizations to dream and act bigger. The impact is a phenomenon that fascinates us immensely. That’s why we’re creating an ‘Impact special,’ which will be added to ‘Het Financieele Dagblad‘ in a few months. So, if you have an impactful story that you would like to share, please email jorein@ftrprf.com, and we will see if we can share it with the world. Impact. Shall we?
